Dr Roni Brown Trustee

Professor Roni Brown read History of Art, Design and Film at Sheffield Hallam University and later gained her PhD in Architectural and Design History at De Montfort University. Roni’s research focuses on user-led content in art and design practice, including studies into everyday creativity. 

Roni has held a number of senior positions in modern and specialist UK Universities, most recently as Deputy Vice-Chancellor Academic Development and Executive Dean of the Faculty of Art, Media and Communication Design at the University for the Creative Arts and Dean of Academic Development at the London College of Communication, University of the Arts London.  

Roni is also responsible for a range of collaborations in teaching, learning and research, for instance her work exploring the student experience in art and design with her colleagues in the Group for Learning in Art and Design (GLAD). She has recently provided an exploration of teaching art, design and media for the sector in the Handbook for Teaching and Learning in Higher Education (in Fry et al 2014, Routledge) and will soon publish the chapter Teaching Quality in Art, Design and Media: Tacit Knowledge and Experience (in Ellis, R, 2017).

Roni is also a Trustee of the Open College of the Arts, Non-Executive Director of the Weydon Multi-Academy Trust, Adviser to Surrey Hills Arts, Fellow of the Royal Society of the Arts and a Principal Fellow of the Higher Education Academy.
