This short paper addresses the funding ecology for social impact and social
change, focusing on the role of independent funders in the UK. It is borne from a number of discussions with institutions and individuals funding social change initiatives. We believe there is an opportunity for creative thinking, based on principles such as humility, sharing and openness; the need for active network building and collaboration; and, critically, starting with the skills, talents and priorities of people and communities at the grassroots.
