Artsmark Celebration Events go online!
Date Created: 11th Nov 2020
This year’s Artsmark Celebration events took a slightly different direction from the originally planned events due to Covid-19. Nevertheless, we were able to continue to highlight the incredible work being carried out by Artsmark settings across the South East.
Our first online event took place in September, and was a great success. Led by Mister Lees from the Young Urban Arts Foundation, staff, children and young people from across the region were taught the groundworks of songwriting and performance skills. This inspiring event explored warm-ups, concepts, lyric writing and rehearsals to enhance the participant’s abilities to write and perform songs.
SoCo Music Project led our second event, facilitating a Vegetable Orchestra workshop for staff, children and young people. Participants had the opportunity to create carrot whistles, pepper shakers and courgette castanets, whilst learning about interesting world instruments made from organic matter just like the soothing sound of bamboo panpipes.
“Thanks for inviting Holy Cross to your online celebration events. Year 5 and 6 had such fun and they still talk about it now. We have passed on the lesson plans and resources to the other classes so hopefully they can all have a go too!” – Charlotte Travers, Holy Cross CE Primary School
Along with a set of video tutorials each attendee also received an exclusive resource booklet, containing tips and tricks, and lesson plans, to allow them to deliver the workshops within their setting. Access to these videos and booklets is exclusive to South East Artsmark settings that are signed up to our online Forum, but a sneak peak of these can be seen below. If you are an Artsmark setting and do not currently have access to our Forum, please email email@example.com
