It’s Artswork’s 30th so we wanted to kick the year off in style by looking back on 2016, sharing our highlights for 2017 and launching a poem written, performed & filmed by young people.

2016 saw Artswork deliver a wide range of programmes. These included our  completion of a 3-year Creative Skills Initiative, working in and through partnerships to create work placements for over 1430 young people. This culminated in a review which can be read here. We ran a successful conference looking at Wellbeing, Education, Arts and Culture where we also launched two new films created by young people mentored by Millstream Productions. We saw 8617 Arts Award moderations across the South East from January to November – and 120 new Artsmark schools.

In 2017, Artswork is looking forward to celebrating its 30 years with our Creativity & Life Chances conference in November. We are also going to get stuck into our new programme working with young people in and leaving care in the Portsmouth. And, alongside business as usual, we will be celebrating with our new Artsmark schools this summer.

Going into the new year, we remain enthusiastic and excited for the future of arts and culture amongst children and young people. We want to start the year off the way we know best, with children and young people at the centre, so here is our new film ‘Everyone is an Artist & Everything is Art’ performed by Chukie.
