Holy Cross CE Primary School’s Celebration Event experience
Date Created: 11th Nov 2020
This September and October, due to the Covid-19 pandemic, we moved our planned Artsmark Celebration Events online. Artsmark settings from across the South East were given the opportunity to take part in two workshops – one on songwriting led by Young Urban Arts Foundation, and one led by SoCo Music Project teaching them how to make an orchestra from vegetables! More information about these events can be found here
Pupils from Year 5 and 6 of Holy Cross CE Primary School in East Sussex were lucky enough to attend both sessions, and are still talking about it now! Teacher Charlotte Travers talks about their experience.
We received our Artsmark Award during Lockdown so it has been pretty difficult to have fully embraced and celebrated our achievements since receiving our Award.
To kick off the autumn term, Artswork put on celebration events that recognised all the great work we have done and continue to do in our school. We took part in fun and interactive workshops delivered by leading Arts organisations!
We took part in a lyric writing session with Young Urban Arts Foundation and also got hands on by turning simple vegetables into glorious sounding instruments with SoCo Music Project.
Year 5 and 6 had such fun and they still talk about it now. We have passed on the lesson plans and resources to the other classes so hopefully they can all have a go too!
Awarded by Arts Council England, Artsmark supports schools and education settings to embed arts. culture and creativity in their curriculum. For more information about Artsmark, visit our Artsmark programme page.
