As part of Artswork’s ongoing school network programme, Jelly artists in Reading are working with five primary schools – Redlands Primary School, New Christ Church Primary, Caversham Primary, Willowbank Primary and Oxford Road Primary – on a wonderful project called ‘ROOM’.

Seven Jelly artists, led by Kate Powell, are working with 180 children to create installation-based projects that will be showcased as part of ‘Open for Art’. The children will also be working towards their Arts Award. The network is currently looking for a business or company that would like to work with them to showcase the collaborative final installations, so please get in touch if you are interested.

This programme will enable Jelly and its partners in the arts to develop and strengthen links at foundation stage, years 1 & 2 in schools, and increase sustainability of schools arts practice. In previous years, they have been able to offer one-off workshops related to project funding but a long-term programme enables them to develop, maintain and create a sustainable programme for the future, working with key partner schools and other arts organisations and individuals and by the development of a wider network.

Open For Art will run from 1st-3rd July. See details of last year’s event here
