Letter from Artswork’s Chief Executive
Date Created: 5th Nov 2020
I hope this note finds you well. As we enter another period of national lockdown in England, I wanted to reassure you that the team at Artswork and I will be continuing to work throughout, doing all we can to empower children and young people through arts and culture. We are spending much of our time helping those working in the arts, cultural and education sectors during this time, and have a range of support and opportunities currently available.
We are continuing to deliver Professional Development courses online, including new training sessions specifically focusing on how arts organisations are working with children and young people in the current climate. Alongside this, we are also offering a range of training and support sessions for education settings on their Artsmark journey, again delivered virtually. All upcoming events can be seen on our Training & Events page.
As part of the new Government Kickstart scheme, we are looking for Partner Organisations in the South East to take part in our Youth Consultant Programme. More information on how to apply for this can be found here. Also in response to Kickstart, we are offering a national wrap-round training programme to support employers and their new employees, open to all organisations no matter their location or industry. Find out more here.
Work in the South East
Our Artsmark team continue to offer a range of support for South East education settings on their Artsmark journey, including exclusive events and resources, along with our online Artsmark Forum. More information can be found on our Artsmark Support page.
We are also carrying out ongoing work with our fellow Bridge organisations as part of the Bridge England Network, including the launch of our new joint Youth Voice initiative, as well as feeding in and supporting national programmes like the Summer Reading Challenge.
We are continuing to work with the leads of each of our current investment programmes to talk about revisions needed in the light of COVID-19.
Our Connecting with Culture website has had several updates this year, making it even easier for arts and cultural organisations in the South East to connect with local schools. We’re encouraging all arts and cultural organisations in our Bridge region to ensure they’ve created a profile on the site, and/or updated their profile to ensure it reflects all the great work currently taking place. We are also continuing to fundraise and work with partners across the South East to give creative packs to children and young people in challenging circumstances #givingtocreate. Find out how to support us here
Our Resources library contains a range of free, practical case studies and toolkits for you to download, whilst our News pages include updates and blog-posts from all of our different programmes. The search function on both of these pages will help focus your search to your specific sector or useful keywords, for example ‘digital’.
Our monthly Bridge and ENYAN newsletters aim to share key guidance and the latest news, and our Professional Development newsletter highlights upcoming training and offers useful tips and guidance to working with children and young people. You can subscribe to all of these on our Newsletters page.
All teams across Artswork are continuing to carry out ‘business as usual’, working from home. If you have any queries or support needs during this time, please get in touch with members of the Artswork team via the contact details in their Staff Profiles, or send any general enquiries to email@example.com and we will make sure your email reaches the right people.
With all best wishes,
