Artswork are delighted to introduce a new project working across the District of Arun in West Sussex: Arun Inspires.

Arun Inspires will devise and deliver a 3 year programme developing the arts and cultural offer for children and young people, working in close partnership with Arun District Council. The project aims to widen access to quality arts and culture for local children and young people especially those with the lowest current engagement. It will support and invest in a range of organisations including schools, arts and non-arts organisations, and develop partnerships across the voluntary, public and private sectors.

The project will explore the benefits of arts and culture to areas such as health and wellbeing, place making and regeneration, crime diversion, skills development and employability.

As part of the project Chichester Festival Theatre are designing and delivering extensive activities benefiting school pupils and vulnerable young people outside education. These activities introduce young people to theatre, develop their creativity and support arts development in the district.

The Chichester Festival Theatre (CFT) programmes include:

  • Anti-bullying Project – a schools performance and workshop tour for primary and secondary schools.
  • Schools Fest – a partnership programme of workshops and theatre visits for pupils, exploring theatre making and productions at CFT.
  • Supporting Vulnerable Young People – continuing provision to engage individuals in the arts through bursary placements for Chichester Festival Youth Theatre, alongside creative events and opportunities.

To create a programme that responds directly to the area’s unique needs, we are currently conducting research into the training and development requirements of local children and young people’s services, arts organisations and education providers. If you are an organisation or school interested in increasing your cultural / arts offer to children and young people anywhere in Arun, please click here to complete this short survey.
