Artswork was in the audience for the eighth Oska Bright Film Festival in Brighton this month.
Oska Bright is managed by Carousel, a National Portfolio Organisation and Arts Award Good Practice Centre which helps learning disabled artists develop and manage their creative lives, true to their voice and vision, challenging expectations of what great art is and who can create it.
The Festival runs over three days, shows 100+ films from around the world and welcomes around 3,000 people.
Oska Bright is programmed, managed and delivered by a team of learning disabled film enthusiasts and features the work by learning disabled filmmakers of all ages.
As a new strand for 2017, Artswork were pleased to fund a Young People’s Day as part of our Arts Award Festival investment programme. Students from six Brighton and Sussex Special Schools had the opportunity to work with Arts Award Advisers from Carousel in school to achieve their Discover Awards, completing their awards as audience members at the Festival.
