On March 29th, Artswork facilitated a cultural mapping workshop on behalf of Southampton City Council and Southampton City of Culture 2025. A collaborative action was taken towards discussing the future plans of many important topics.
A space arts offered a stunning historic space at God’s House Tower and over a dozen city organisations came together in a true spirit of openness, to explore what each is planning for future funding applications. As a result, the attendees have a shared understanding of how we all fit into the ecology of the city and the wider landscape of Levelling Up places, where there is potential for complementary activity and any gaps going forward.
This process of sharing evidences the quality of collaboration in the city was timely; as this was a key moment with Southampton just named in the final four for UK City of Culture 2025. Thinking from the workshop will feed into further development of city-wide strategies and action plans for culture, destination management, economy and growth.
