International Outreach
Artswork has a keen interest in benefitting from global learning and international connectivity, and we continue to explore opportunities for international work. More information on some of this work can be seen below.
Thailand
In 2019, Artswork was invited to Thailand by the Artists Residency Programme, ARThailand. in January 2020 two members of staff – Jane Bryant (Chief Executive) and Anna Brown (Programme Manager, Learning, Skills and Enterprise) – undertook a two week residency at the programmes affiliated school, Prem Tinsulanonda International School, in Chiang Mai.
During the residency Jane and Anna worked with senior staff from the school, exchanging approaches to integrating creativity and creative thinking in the curriculum, drawing on case studies and school and education practice in the UK. Alongside this, Anna worked directly with students and staff through dance and movement, showing how these can deepen learning, knowledge acquisition and understanding in a productive – and fun! – manner across the curriculum.

Estonia
In 2018, we supported PopUp Projects with their Creators programme. The programme brought together artists from the Baltic States to colleges and universities in the South East, London and Norfolk, to teach young arts students and support them in navigating their own transition into becoming professional artists. This culminated in a symposium in Tallinn, Estonia, attended by our Strategic Manager, Ruth Taylor.

Chile
With support from the Artists International Development Fund (Arts Council England) and the Anglo-Chilean Society, our CEO, Jane Bryant, travelled with The Mighty Creatives’ CEO, Nick Owen, to Chile in August 2017. They took part in Chilean youth arts organisation Balmaceda Arte Joven’s ARTIVISTAS Symposium, a two-day event celebrating 25 years of working in and through the arts with young people.

Singapore
In 2016/17, we completed an excellent five years of partnership working with the National Arts Council of Singapore. This work saw us delivering key elements of Singapore’s Youth Arts Symposium in 2012, followed by a training programme for youth arts practitioners in 2014.
We were then commissioned to develop and deliver an annual work placement programme back in the UK, for Singaporean youth arts workers and artists. The final of these placements took place in 2016.
