‘The Artist Not in Residence’ involved young people and teachers in schools making virtual connections to professional artists and arts & cultural organisations in their studio, gallery or museum, in order to enhance their learning.

The focus of this action-based research was to explore how digital-based learning (using Skype) could enable cultural organisations and artists to deliver curriculum needs and build relevant virtual resources for schools. It also aimed to explore whether schools benefited from increased access to high quality arts, creative and cultural professionals and whether students’ motivation, skills and understanding were increased in the process.
