The suspension of Ofsted Inspections during lockdown provided Artswork’s Education Development Manager for the Berkshire, Oxfordshire, Buckinghamshire and Milton Keynes, Eleanor Markland, the opportunity to read all the published school inspections from her area. She was interested in finding out how closely inspectors had been looking at arts, cultural and creative learning and if it was possible to get a sense of the value placed on them by Ofsted.
The review included 120 reports published following inspections held between 1st September 2019 and 25th March 2020. The analysis draws some heartening conclusions for all those committed to providing pupils and students with a rich experience of the arts and culture both in schools and cultural organisations.
