Portrait of Eleanor Markland

Eleanor Markland

Education Development Manager - Buckinghamshire, Oxfordshire, Berkshire and Milton Keynes

Eleanor joined Artswork in October 2019 as Education Development Manager for the Bucks, Oxon, Berk and Milton Keynes (BOBMK) area.

Eleanor moved from teaching to museum education via an MA in Victorian Literature. She spent over 10 years at Luton Museums and was fortunate to be there during the Renaissance years when Luton was part of the East of England hub. This provided great opportunities to develop the learning programme and to be part of exciting projects with other museums, schools and universities. Eleanor also enjoyed writing and curating exhibitions and galleries with the curatorial team and producing resource materials for teachers and students.

After this, Eleanor joined the Humanities team at Luton’s Lea Manor High School as a Pupil Premium Tutor.  She enjoyed engaging the interest of students and supporting her colleagues through creating accessible resources and linking the syllabus to the local area.

Most recently she worked for Buckinghamshire County Council’s Schools team as a Schools Liaison Officer, the key link between head teachers and the LA. Eleanor brought her enthusiasm for learning outside the classroom and cultural education to the role and used her connections with local arts and heritage organisations to promote opportunities for partnership and projects to Bucks schools.
