Grace Jackson

Social Media & Digital Marketing Assistant

Grace began her journey with Artswork in July 2021 through the government-funded Kickstart scheme. She has lived in Portsmouth her whole life and is a lover of the south coast’s wonderful natural open spaces and beautiful scenery. While growing up, she attended Victoryland Theatre School for 7 years, which was a fantastic way for her to channel her artistic instincts whilst growing in the confidence that is catching in such an electric atmosphere. Her personal highlight was getting to perform on the King’s Theatre stage in a production of The Wizard of Oz.

After leaving senior school, Grace attended what is now Havant and South Downs College, studying History, Film Studies and English at A Level and Sociology at AS Level. Grace decided to not go down the traditional route of university, instead continuing to work in her existing role at Kurt Geiger with the aim of earning a promotion, which she did a couple of years later. After 4 happy years there, she decided to leave to push herself and further her career prospects, and this is how she fully discovered her love for the charity/non-profit industry. She worked on the retail side for both the British Heart Foundation and most recently Sue Ryder Care in an Assistant Manager capacity, and through these roles improved all aspects of her skills and experience.

She views the arts as an absolutely critical sector in our society – both for the economic contribution and the positive effect on wellbeing, particularly on children, and is so excited to be able to explore this further with Artswork and gain more insight into how more young people can be reached.

Grace is very enthusiastic about history; and she can often be heard waxing lyrical about the Tudors. She is also a keen reader, writer, crafter and artist and enjoys making greetings cards and drawing.
