Building strategic alliances, we specialise in advocating for change and delivering positive outcomes for children and young people. We also act as a source of inspiration and practical support for those engaging with young people, enhancing their expertise and building bridges between cultural and educational organisations to strengthen infrastructure, facilitate partnerships, and sustain access to the arts and culture.
In the 30 years since Artswork began, we have delivered a wide range of arts and cultural projects working in and through many varied partnerships – regionally, nationally and internationally. These have reached many hundreds of young people, including some of the most vulnerable and at risk, building arts skills and leadership, boosting self-esteem and social skills, and aspiring for long-term, sustainable benefits through clarity of progression routes.
These projects have been developed with and supported by many different stakeholders, funding bodies and partners.

Strong Voices was a two-year national programme that aimed to address the social, cultural and economic barriers that prevent young people from going to a museum or arts centre. In the South East, Artswork connected Portsmouth’s young people, families and schools with the city’s world-class arts, cultural and heritage facilities.
The Creative Skills Initiative was a strand of Creative & Cultural Skills Creative Employment Programme, deliver on behalf of Arts Council England. Between 2013 and 2016, the programme supported more than 1,000 young people across England to make their first steps in employment through an apprenticeship or paid internship.
On behalf of the Department for Work and Pensions, we delivered 105 jobs for unemployed young people in arts, cultural and creative organisations in the South East and in the East Midlands.
