This half-day course is designed for creative and cultural professionals, as well as young people, who are passionate about supporting youth-led initiatives and creative development. The course offers comprehensive insights into the principles and practices of mentoring and peer mentoring, emphasising the role of these relationships in promoting and amplifying youth voice.

  • Understanding Mentoring Dynamics: Participants will gain a clear understanding of both traditional mentoring and peer mentoring, exploring how each approach can be tailored to empower young people effectively.
  • Promoting Youth Voice: The course focuses on strategies to create environments where young voices are not only heard but are at the centre of creative projects and decision-making processes.
  • Building Essential Skills: Attendees will develop critical mentoring skills such as active listening, constructive feedback, and adaptive communication. These skills ensure that young people feel respected and valued, leading to more engaged and confident participants.
  • Addressing Challenges in Mentoring: The course provides practical case studies and role-playing scenarios to help participants navigate common challenges in mentoring, such as handling behavioural issues, managing group dynamics, applying professional boundaries and aligning differing values and attitudes.
