Youth Board Celebration
Artswork Youth Board promotes an interactive and inclusive discussion among its members, who range in age from 11 to 25, through its biweekly meetings. These Zoom-hosted virtual seminars provide a friendly setting for young participants to express their thoughts, ideas, and opinions, promoting an engaging diverse dialogue. The primary objective of the Youth Board is to integrate the perspectives of young individuals into Artswork’s fundamental framework. Through engaging discussions, the board addresses a wide range of topics, ranging from matters of equality, diversity, and inclusion to the field of youth empowerment.
Outside of the virtual world, the Youth Board met in real life on Saturday, November 25, at Portsmouth’s Historic Dockyard. This meeting provided an opportunity for group reflection, achievement, celebration, and engagement in a range of activities. A trip from Portsmouth to Priddy’s Hard on the F8 Landing craft provided a chance for feedback from our Youth Board on the plans to create artists’ studios on the site. On the same day, Swan Samba led a lively samba workshop that offered a forum for discussing the Youth Board’s plans for the future.
We aim to see the fundamental effects of a youth led, quality framework echoing across Artswork, as we have the opportunity to improve the lives of children and youth throughout the South East by utilising the insights of our Youth Board. This project is ongoing and supported by public funding from Arts Council England.
