Representation in Drama: 150 plays from global majority writers

RinD, a London Theatre Consortium initiative, have created a set of resources alongside the work they are doing with exam boards to ensure better representation and inclusion on their specifications. This is part of their anti-racism work in education settings to ensure that all young people feel representation and belonging in classrooms and theatres.

RinD (Representation in Drama) have supported Pearson with the introduction of four new set texts to their GCSE examination list. These texts are:

  • Antigone by Roy Williams
  • A Dolls’ House by Tanika Gupta
  • Gone too Far by Bola Agbaje
  • The Free9 by In– Sook Chappell

Consultation and interviews with young people has been integral to the creation of resources to support the teaching and study of these texts. These filmed resources have been made with the original producing theatres (Lyric Hammersmith, National Theatre, Pilot Theatre, Royal Court Theatre and Theatre Royal Stratford East) in partnership with TEAfilms. You can find the filmed resources on the London Theatre Consortium’s YouTube channel here. Additionally, RinD created a list of 150 plays by writers from the global majority with designer Kunmi Ogunsola, which can be viewed below.
