Throughout December, Artswork raised money to send creative packs to disadvantaged children and young people across the South. In total, 233 packs were distributed through local networks such as food banks and education settings, enabling us to reach the young people that needed us most.
From Southampton, to Whitstable, to Winslow, a wide range of young people benefitted from our creative packs, including Afghan refugees spending the holidays in hotels in Canterbury, who received packs through Whitstable Community Wardrobe.
This is the second year running that Artswork have led a fundraiser to help children and young people living in challenging circumstances, over the winter holidays. This period in particular can be very tough for families who don’t have as much, which is why the fundraiser is so important. Many young people won’t have access to arts materials outside of school, but our appeal has helped many young people bring the joy of creativity into their home this winter.

Artswork CEO, Louise Govier, said “Thanks so much to everyone who donated. This work is really important – every time we can enable a child to explore, create and express themselves, we’re helping a young life to thrive”
Artswork would also like to thank the partner organisations for helping us to reach so many children and young people:
- Aspire Alternative Provision, Buckinghamshire
- Chilworth House, Oxfordshire
- Furze Down School, Winslow
- Portsmouth HAF
- Slough HAF, Slough Music Hub (at Grove Academy, Chalvey)
- Southampton Virtual School
- The Umbrella Café CIC, Whitstable
- Whitstable Community Wardrobe
