Arts Award in Primary Schools – An Introduction

This short session from Artswork will introduce you to the first two levels of this flagship Arts and Cultural award for young people, Discover and Explore.

Our three guest speakers have varying levels of experience working with Arts Award in their school and will share their approaches and reflections on its benefits and opportunities.

Jonathan Harris, Head of Academy Music, The Premier Academy, Bletchley, Milton Keynes has incorporated Arts Award into the school’s music curriculum

Kirsten Black, Art Lead, Glory Farm Primary School, Bicester, Oxfordshire has used Arts Award as part of extra-curricular activity and also developed Arts Award programmes to support learning from cultural visits and trips.

Verity Tyne, Art Lead, Whitelands Park Primary School, Thatcham, Berkshire delivered her first Arts Awards this summer after completing advisor training in the spring. The event image shows some work produced by her pupils through the programme.
