Date Created: 1st Dec 2014

Share this:

Making Museums is a project run by The Pitt Rivers Museum and the Museum of Natural History for the past 11 years, working with around 20 classes of Year 6 pupils from across 11 schools. A total of around 500 children each are involved in the project.

The aim of Making Museums is to allow children to understand the value of museum learning through hands-on discovery of what museums do and how they operate, including the roles of different staff. The project’s ultimate goal is to create greater confidence for children and young people in terms of visiting museums. Making Museums has been developed to encourage a sense of personal achievement and pride in the children’s schools and local culture.
