Our work in Slough, empowering young people to lead and make change in their communities through creativity.
What impact have Changemakers in Slough made so far?
They created two stop motion animation films about the impact of plastic pollution on the ocean and rainforests.
This project happened in response to concerns from young people about littering in Slough, and how it has a negative impact on the environment and on people’s perceptions about the town.
They designed a prosocial conference event that addressed concerns about knife crime and violence in their local area.
Local children and young people were able to remember lost friends, connect with their community, and explore creative ways that they can generate positive change where they live.
It was amazing to be able to lead the day, we really showed that if we want change, we have the power to make it happen.
I’ve been passionate about creativity and community building since I was a child and even started my own creative practice with my mum at the age of 14 where we teach about sustainability through using recycled materials. I’m grateful that I can support young people to create inclusive places where they feel heard and celebrated.
