Creative Careers at Year 5
Invigorate your classroom by giving your pupils an exciting insight into the film industry.
Overview
Welcome to Creative Careers, an innovative project designed to empower upper KS2 children by merging learning and creativity through the magic of filmmaking.
- Using film as the focus, it presents children with the opportunity to gain real-life experience whilst being creative. We want to open their eyes to the 'hidden' creative talent that goes into making a film.
- In 10 short videos, industry professionals explain their role in film production and set tasks that will help your pupils try out and develop key skills for that job.
- An approximate six-week scheme of work with lesson plans and activities to enable you to hold an off-timetable 'film week'. This will enable pupils to use the skills and knowledge they have gained to produce a film and organise its 'premier'.
An amazing variety of films have been created by pupils who have already taken part in the programme. From fantasy films about alien invasions to documentaries about global issues such as deforestation. If you're interested in this project for your pupils, you can get started today.

"We've decided to make space in the curriculum to create a film project every year in a similar style."
"Children learnt about the variety of roles that make up the film industry. They developed and used a whole range of planning, creative, writing, recording, teamwork, communication, marketing and editing skills."
