Gosport Anti-littering Film

Gosport secondary school pupils worked with local filmmaker to make a film to encourage other young people to change their behaviour in relation to littering.

Stones arranged on a sandy beach to read 'dont litter' surrounded by a ring of seaweed

Students at Bridgemary School worked with local filmmaker Paul Gonella of Strong Island Media to make a film to encourage other young people to change their behaviour in relation to littering.

The students were involved in all aspects of the film from storyboarding and scriptwriting to acting, directing and operating camera and sound equipment.

  • a young girl looking into a camera on a tripod filming another young girl sat on a beach
  • four young girls look away from the camera towards a man showing them filmmaking equipment
  • young people in classroom using filmmaking equipment with filmmaker
  • three young girls on beach in discussion with filmmaker

Impact

After being involved in the filmmaking project:

  • 100%

said they were more interested in environmental issues

  • 100%

enjoyed being part of the project

As a result of this project, I know to pick up litter whenever I am able to.

I am more aware about how we can help stop pollution from getting worse.

I feel more confident with talking out loud and reasoning with others.

It has been a really good way of putting a story across and everyone is involved.
