Temple Ewell Mural & Bike Shelter
Students from Temple Ewell Primary school designed and developed an eco-friendly bike shelter and mural, inspired by their experiences of nature at school.
In partnership with the White Cliffs Countryside Partnership, students from Temple Ewell Primary School designed and developed an eco-friendly bike shelter and mural, inspired by their experiences of nature at school, particularly those connected to the River Dour, and cycling/scootering.
Throughout the project, the young people took part in various activities, including:
- Workshops, skills sessions, and talks: with architect Charles Holland, ceramicist Raina Erbas, fashion designer Eirinn Hayhow, and mural artist Sam Giles.
- Designing and voting: from shaping how the bike shelter and mural would look, to having the whole school vote on the final outcome.
- Community involvement: students organised events such as a ‘bring your bike to school’ day, and a river celebration day.
Throughout the project, the students demonstrated a clear interest in nature and the community, choosing to design an informative booklet about the River Dour for parents.
We need to look after our river better, I am going to tell my parents later how we can.
