Our Voice: Loud & Proud

Finding Our Voices & celebrating our identities as young people in Bognor Regis

This Art Trail has been developed by young people at Bognor Youth & Community Centre through the Young Cultural Changemakers Programme run across Arun by youth arts charity Artswork.

Our Voice: Loud & Proud was created through a range of art, music and video workshops coordinated by Artswork with local artist, Tricia Johnson, over six months. It is designed to support mental wellbeing for local young people and the community by celebrating Bognor’s individuality in all its shapes and sizes and encouraging active exploration of our area.

  • Young girl has a video camera in her hand with an adult stood next to her helping her.
  • A young persons hands hold lego and look at a guide book to create a lego creation.
  • A young girl works on a laptop creating a banner that reads 'OUR VOICE, Loud & Proud'
  • Two young people look at sculptures they have made.
  • A young person uses inks to create an artwork.
  • A young girl holds up her artwork made with ink and stamps.
  • Young person pictured with their art work made by printing.
  • Three young people sit in a music room looking at a laptop working on their music recording.

The trail comprises 17 unique art pieces, created in different media and styles and fixed to lampposts to create a trail that traverses some of our main routes through our area, as well as a series of short music compositions and videos recorded in the BRYCC studio with local music teacher and artist, Stuart Tranter which can be seen below.

The Young Cultural Changemakers programme offers training and creative opportunities to cohorts of local young people who are able to commission artists and other professionals in order to realise their ideas for new projects designed to benefit their communities.

We hope you enjoy exploring our Trail! If you need a map to find them all, please find that below.

I enjoyed it because it’s fun and I can express myself through what I do.

I really enjoyed doing the music, art and sign language. It got me to do things at the BRYCC and I like how people get to do more creative things and enjoy it.
