Team 27 Creative Day

Young people at The Grove Academy created a mural to feel more connected to others in their year group.

When we began working with The Grove Academy on this project, the Year 10s wanted to feel motivated and cohesive within their year group as they move into Year 11.

We hosted Team 27, which was a rotation of various creative workshops to help them all get to know each other and increase their confidence through creativity.

  • Artist Jho worked with the students to create a spray painted mural that had team 27 painted on top of their words of hope. This is now hanging in the school canteen.
  • Illustrator Raj Dhunna hosted a key ring making workshop, showing his illustration and work for TFL, Stormzy and heritage projects. The young people created key rings as daily reminders with quotes that mean something to them
  • Wick ceramics hosted a pottery session, giving the young people the chance to creatively express themselves with clay.
  • Leos circus hosted a team building workshop, encouraging team work, team trust and confidence building through circus activities.
  • Spray painted art works
  • Team 27 spray painted artwork
  • 4 people stand in front of a projected image that reads 'team 27'
  • Ceramics in different shapes and sizes, including hearts and stars.
  • A young woman stands in front of spray painted boards
  • 3 key rings with messages on them. One reads 'You can't lose something you never had.'
  • A young woman shows four young men the technique to start spray painting
  • Three people sit on the floor on padded mats.

This project was made possible by public funding from Arts Council England.
