A full-day safeguarding course focused on applying safeguarding principles in real-world organisational contexts within creative, cultural and heritage settings.
This course is designed for those who are responsible for putting safeguarding into practice within projects, teams or programmes. Rather than covering thresholds or referrals in depth, the focus is on understanding risk, context and responsibility across different settings and activities.
In this course, you will:
- Explore contextual safeguarding and how risk changes depending on setting and activity
- Understand the background to safeguarding and why it matters in creative and cultural settings
- Explore key categories of abuse and how concerns may present in practice
- Consider safeguarding concerns within your own working context
- Develop confidence in responding appropriately to disclosures
- Strengthen your understanding of everyday safeguarding responsibilities
- Apply safeguarding principles using real-world case studies
- Reflect on safeguarding across teams, projects and organisational structures
- Develop greater confidence in identifying and managing safeguarding risk in practice

This course provides space to slow down, think critically and explore how safeguarding works day to day. It is particularly valuable for those who support others’ practice, manage activities, or need to interpret safeguarding guidance within complex or changing environments. No prior attendace on Essential Safeguarding is required.
