View resources from and an audio recording of a recent CPD session run by Artswork, focusing on integrating anti-racist and representative practices into arts education.

The session heard presentations from:

  • mezze eade and Romana Flello, Representation in Drama (RInD) Practitioners at the London Theatre Consortium. The RInD initiative supports schools, colleges and universities, theatres and youth companies to embed anti-racism and inclusion in their practice, addresses systemic imbalances in KS3, GCSE, A level Drama and performing arts university departments and supports intersectional anti-racism work happening in UK education settings and theatre companies.
  • Emma Kerrigan-Draper, Headteacher, Mount Pleasant Junior School, Southampton. Mount Pleasant Junior School is an inner-city improving school with 98% of pupils being bi- or multi-lingual. They have built a curriculum to match their context and meet their learners’ needs, including ensuring that their students meet inspirational role models; build cultural capital for their lives in Modern Britain; and recognise themselves within their learning.
  • Reshma Mathurasingh, Co-Head of Drama, Park View School, Tottenham. The students at Park View School are from a very diverse demographic and there are many different languages spoken at the school. One of the school’s objectives is to erase any racism. Reshma is part of the anti-racist group and has been employing and embedding many strategies for the decolonisation of the Drama curriculum.
